The temperature reading depends on what type of probe you are using.
- The standard probes the temperature ratings are -40 to 572 F.
- Extra-care (colored, heavy duty) probes the temperature ratings are -40 to 482 F. These are water resistant and the colored teflon is what makes the temperature rating lower.
Both types should work in grills as well smokers. Make sure you verified the temperatures in ice water and/or boiling water. They should be around 32F for the cold and 112F for the boiling. Also, the Tappecue sends temperature updates every 30 seconds and the quick temperature view on the app updates every minute. Since it is not an instant reading you might have a short delay between the Tappecue device and your mobile device.
